Check out this excellent short film on Shinya Kimura I found on YouMightFindYourself Back when I was an intern at BMW Motorrad I came across a book about Shinya Kimura’s Japanese chopper building company, Zero Engineering, which turned everything I knew about choppers on it’s head. Something about the rawness and unexpected proportions gave it a much greater sense of authenticity. Far from the chromed out, tassled bikes your local dentist ordered out of a Harley catalog as part of some sort of mid-life crisis.
Since then, Kimura has moved to the USA where he operates as Chabott Engineering in Azusa, California.

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is proudly presenting its history “in motion“: In a 2 ½-film “The Porsche Way“, the Company presents its entire history from the early years up to the present day on one full-coverage DVD. Starting with the lifetime achievements of Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche, the film focuses in eight chapters on the development of the famous sports car manufacturer, proceeding from one decade to the next. “This is the first time that a car maker is presented so exhaustively on a DVD”, says Dieter Landenberger, the Director of the Porsche Archives.
The DVD is based on the Archives Collection with more than 5,000 hours of footage. Taking most impressive scenes from the history of the Company, the products and motorsport, the DVD presents numerous film extracts never seen before. Several outstanding celebrities of former times also make an appearance in the film, among them former racing drivers such as Hans Herrmann, Eberhard Mahle, and Paul Ernst Strähle as well as former employees of Porsche such as the “Engine King“ Hans Mezger or Dr. Heinz Rabe, formerly the Director of the Porsche Social Affairs Department. As a further highlight, the film comes with music composed specifically for this DVD.
“The Porsche Way“ from the Porsche Museum Edition is now available
in German and English at the Porsche Museum Shop at a price of

This is the first installment of the Curb Industries Blog YouTube Playlist Series! After entering the YouTube time suck vortex for several hours I’ve emerged with this collection of clips. They range from vintage Japanese rally footage, to a diva house backed fan montage, an indepth documentary (sorry, this is also japanese dialogue), and a totally awesome mini documentary on the 1970 Stratos Prototype which sounds like it was scored by Giorgio Morodor or something. Enjoy!
So, 2008 was crazy and the blog got shelved for a while, but this time i think we’re gonna make it! I’m going to be doing a lot of tweaking, building, and testing so cut us some slack! Now if you’ll excuse me i’m going to test out embedded YouTube clips! If this goes according to plan you should be able to take a look at Toyota doing a bit of their own tweaking and building.
