Huge thanks to Amina for the heads up on this one! What an honor! Seriously, this is the best bookstore I know of. If you’re visiting LA and have some time for shopping, set some time and money aside for some awesome Art/Design books. Victoria was kind enough to snag some photos for me!
We’re still shipping free t-shirts with the book when you buy it HERE!

I managed to waltz into the show early this morning and enjoy taking some photos while the light was good and the the crowds we’re still snoozin. Unfortunately I had my camera set at an ISO of 1600 the entire time and never really thought twice about why I was shooting at 1/4000 at dawn. The results weren’t toooooooooo disastrous though and in some cases I think it was a bit of a happy accident. It was a pretty good show, but it could have been a parking lot full of Sebrings for all I care, so long as that Dino 206 Competizione Prototype was there! I’ll probably create a larger album on the facebook page so become a fan and check it out!

Audi will be celebrating their 100th birthday tomorrow, and to mark the occasion they have released hundreds of awesome hi-res images from throughout the brands history. If you’re an image hoarder like myself, trust me, this is going to blow. your. mind. Auto Blog has created a nice gallery of the images so check that out here. They’ve also done a pretty nice microsite which has tons of videos produced over the years. I haven’t had time to spend much time with it, but it looks like there’s lots of cool stuff.

I’m especially excited for the German GP this week. Grid is looking like it’s going to make for an awesome race, and I’m happy to see Hamilton back in the mix. Obviously Nürburbring is a shadow of it’s former self, but ya know, safety first. So here’s some really nice footage of the Nordschleife in all it’s glory at the 1969 German GP where the addition of front and rear wings was almost enough to keep the cars on the track through the Flugplatz!
Here’s a really cool clip where Sir Jackie Stewart (who famously nicknamed the track as “The Green Hell”) explains the track.

For some reason I found myself thinking of Meilenwerk in Berlin today. I guess I’m having some kind of exotic car withdraw here in Montreal right now.
When I was at VW and we had a quiet afternoon or the team was feeling demoralized we’d pile into a Caddy and take a field trip to this auto enthusiasts heaven. It’s a beautifully executed storage facility housed in an old tram garage. The center is like a fantasy classic car dealership which is surrounded by these 2 story glass storage units, and then the perimeter of the building is made up of several small garage/bodyshops dedicated to various marques. The cars are really diverse and always coming and going so the place has a real buzz that’s rarely found at indoor collections. They have facilities in Düsseldorf and Stuttgart now, but I’m kind of surprised this sort of thing isn’t way more common all over the world. So next time your in Berlin put it on your to do list!

I got sidetracked doing some research and found some nice photos of the Alfa Romeo Tipo/33 Stradale. This has to be one of the most beautiful man made objects ever.

Nice bit of video from On Cars of Franz von Holzhausen talking about the design of Tesla Model S. Some nice little tid-bits regarding aero and the advantages of packaging around an all electric drivetrain.
